Whether you spent some quality time with friends and family, ate too much turkey, did all your Christmas shopping, or just sat around relaxing in front of the tv, I hope you had a great Thanksgiving!

I'm not a big sports fan, but I love watching movies. Of course it follows that I would rather go to the theater than sit in front of the tv on Thanksgiving Day. The challenge is in deciding what to see, and 2008 hasn't been my favorite year for movies. The Dark Knight was good, and I really enjoyed Atonement (I loved the book). Iron Man was surprisingly better than expected, but overall the movies this year just haven't gotten me very excited. The most recent Indiana Jones and Bond movies were even a bit disappointing. For Thanksgiving, we decided to check out Nicole Kidman's new "epic saga" Australia, and I just have to say that I really, really like this movie. I'm a little sad to see that it didn't do better at the box office this weekend, but I guess it's hard to compete with the fans of Bond, Twilight, and Vince Vaughn.

I just hope that this movie doesn't get overlooked because it is very good, and Fox doesn't seem to be doing a great job promoting it. With many emotional highs and lows, I'll admit that it had me crying a couple of times. The little aboriginal boy in the film is just so cute and really steals the screen from Kidman and Hugh Jackman. The movie is long (2 hours and 45 minutes) so it is the perfect sort of movie for a holiday when you have a full stomach and hours of free time. It has action, romance, drama and an adorable kid. Yes it can be a bit melodramatic, and if you're the sort that gets annoyed with cute kids or gets bored with long movies or just doesn't enjoy epic, mixed-genre movies then you might as well stay home. If you enjoy epic movies like Pearl Harbor, Gladiator, Troy, and Braveheart then you'll probably love this movie too.

If you do see it then I hope you'll come back and let me know what you think.

I got a new phone today! The new number is 865-360-4567.

It's going to be a real pain to update my number all over the internet, but at least now I have an excuse to get new business cards.

Winter months don't have nearly as many weddings as the rest of the year, but I do have a lot of album and print orders to keep me busy when it's cold. Here are a couple of recent albums that I have waiting to be picked up.

I do offer books from a few different album manufacturers, but these are both from the same company. This book was the most popular with my brides this year, and square is definitely hot. Each book has a custom photo cover. Emily and Bryan have a 10x10" album.

Tessa and Bruce have a 12x12" album with two 8x8" parent albums.

These digital books are printed on a sturdy-but-flexible art paper which allows for panoramic photos to be printed across the center gutter of the book.

Brrrrr! Saturday was cold! Fortunately, Angie and Aaron had lots of happiness and love to keep them warm. Their wedding at Crescent Bend (aka the Armstrong-Lockett House) was beautiful. I was so happy that it never really rained on us and even happier when I found some beautiful fall color. The lower terrace was flooded, but we still got some great shots in the gardens. Angie was such a beautiful bride, and I always love the portraits. However, I'm going to fight my urge to post them all and actually show more of the important events and details instead.

Check out the bling!

Seeing her groom for the first time ...

Garner/Orr Wedding November 15

Although the original plan was for a ceremony beside one of the fountains, Crescent Bend has many possible setups. With the threat of rain, they opted to exchange vows under one of the tents instead.

Rex Bradford Jones did the catering and cake, but I never had a chance to stop and try anything. I think it's a great idea to let the bride have her cake first if for no other reason than to give her a chance for pay back if he decides to smash the cake in her face. Aaron restrained himself and only left a dab of icing on her nose. Notice the cute, furry cape that Angie had to keep her shoulders warm(er) during the reception. I think that these are an excellent idea for winter weddings.

and now for a couple of portraits

Everyone had fun (and kept warm) dancing under the tents, and Ogle Entertainment did an excellent job as usual with the music. Jim Ogle came by to set everything up even though he wasn't feeling well, but he didn't need to worry because Jake did a great job.

It's almost that time of year again, and I'm making holiday plans. I will be out of the office Dec 20-Jan 5. I just shot my last wedding of the year this past weekend (watch for a blog post to come) and hope to get caught up on all galleries and print orders before leaving. Any print orders received by this Friday November 21 should be mailed out before the holidays. Any orders received after this cutoff will take two weeks longer than normal as I will not be working over the holidays.
